Can you access Priority Pass lounges just by showing your Amex Platinum card?
One of my favorite aspects of airport lounges is how they improve the overall experience of waiting at the airport. They’re a terrific place to unwind in between flights while enjoying snacks and drinks in a relaxing environment. There is also a slew of excellent credit cards that come with complimentary admission to airport lounges.
When you receive The Platinum Card® from American Express, a popular question is how you utilize it to gain admission to posh airport lounges. Is it possible for you to simply wave your Amex Platinum card at the front desk? The answer is that it depends on which lounge you want to visit. Although certain lounges, such as the Centurion lounges owned by American Express, merely need you to show your card. Priority Pass, on the other hand, necessitates a separate registration and enrollment.
HOW TO ACCESS PRIORITY PASS LOUNGES WITH THE AMEX PLATINUM CARD
With The Platinum Card® from American Express and The Business Platinum Card® from American Express, you’ll be able to access a variety of lounges worldwide, such as:
- Centurion lounges
- International American Express Lounges
- Delta Sky Club
- Priority Pass lounges
- Airspace
- Escape Lounges
- Plaza Premium Lounges
Each one has its own set of amenities, but you can expect snacks, drinks, Wi-Fi, and showers in most cases. Having access to an airport lounge can be well worth it if you have a long stopover or fly regularly. To receive access to Priority Pass lounges, you must register separately. You’ll receive a physical Priority Pass membership card, as well as a digital card that you can access using the Priority Pass app. However, because some lounges still require a physical card, it’s a good idea to keep your membership card on hand just in case.
BENEFITS OF PRIORITY PASS SELECT
You’ll have access to Priority Pass lounges as long as you have a same-day boarding pass and a valid ID. With over 1,300 locations worldwide, the specific amenities will vary based on the location, but you can generally expect the following:
- Complimentary beverages, including beer, wine, and liquor
- Snacks and meals
- Wi-Fi
- Showers to refresh before or after a flight in some lounges

Many airport lounges provide amenities such as Wi-Fi, snacks and beverages, showers, and more, which are ideal for frequent travelers. One of the perks for Amex Platinum and Amex Business Platinum cardholders is a complimentary membership in Priority Pass Select. To enter the lounges, you’ll need a membership card, which you can receive by enrolling through your Amex account or phoning Amex. You can’t merely flash your Amex Platinum card to get into a Priority Pass lounge. The lounge is free for you and two guests if you have a Priority Pass membership through an Amex Platinum card. Other card issuers who give lounge access, on the other hand, have various rules about how many guests are allowed, so keep your membership cards organized.
